                <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The following is an interview with Liam Craig-Best, the director of &lt;a href='http://www.justiceforcolombia.org/' class='spip_out'&gt;Justice for Colombia&lt;/a&gt;, on Britain's role in the continuing human rights catastrophe in the country.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;What is the current human rights situation in Colombia?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Colombia is suffering from a human rights catastrophe and has easily the worst human rights record in the Western Hemisphere, and one of the worst in the world. Political assassinations are running at around ten per day and people are also forcibly disappeared on a daily basis. To give an idea: more people are killed for political reasons in Colombian each year than&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;were murdered in the entire Pinochet dictatorship in Chile. Another huge problem is internal displacement and Colombia now, after the Sudan, has the second highest number of internal refugees in the world - between three and four million people.
