Clive Stafford Smith

Clive Stafford Smith, a human rights lawyer, is the founder and legal director of the charity Reprieve (www.reprieve.org.uk). He has worked on death penalty cases in the United States, and more recently has represented many of the Guantánamo Bay prisoners. He is the author of Bad Men: Guantanamo Bay and the Secret Prisons (Weidenfeld & Nicolson, 2007), and writes a monthly column for New Statesman. His documentary is Is Torture a Good Idea?.
