Ilan Pappe, born in Haifa, is currently a Professor of History at the University of Exeter (Cornwall Campus), and a co-director of the Exeter Center for Ethno-Political Studies, working on the 20th century ethno-politics. He is well-known as a "revisionist" or "post-Zionist" Israeli "new historian". He has a BA from Hebrew University and a PhD from Oxford. He was a senior lecturer in the department of Political Science at Haifa University, and the Chair of the Emil Touma Institute for Palestinian Studies in Haifa (2000-2008). He was also the Academic Director of the Research Institute for Peace at Givat Haviva (1992-2000). Ilan Pappe has published extensively on Arab-Israeli relations, and has been both acclaimed and smeared on the publication of each of his many books relating to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His most recent books are The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine (Oneworld, 2006), The Modern Middle East (Routledge, 2005), and A History of Modern Palestine: One Land, Two Peoples (Cambridge University Press, 2004). His previous books include The Making of the Arab-Israeli Conflict, 1948-1951 (New York, 1992) and The Israel/Palestine Question (London, 1999). He is also a former member of the Advisory Board of the Council for Palestinian Restitution and Repatriation (CPRR).
